The weekend is finally here and the weather outside is just gorgeous! Anxiously waiting for work to end so I can kick off my shoes, relax and unwind. What better way to relax and soak up some sun than a seaside resort and spa? 🙂
Steve and I rarely take vacations these days because we just can’t stand being away from our fur babies for that long. So we thought it would be a fun idea to just take a day and have a mini staycation here in our beautiful city (courtesy of Loews Coronado Bay Resort). A couple’s retreat: just us, the warm sun, cool ocean breeze and a whole lot of cocktails.
Loews’ oceanfront resort makes you feel like you’re on vacation, even if you’re just a few miles away from home (like we are) 😀 Everywhere you look, there’s crisp blue waters and sand. We’ve lived here most of our lives and still have not fully discovered San Diego. So we took advantage of our one free weekend and enjoyed it, summer socal style. Swim trunks and bikinis with drinks in both hands.
There were so many activities to do at Loews and we had so little time to do it! They have 3 swimming pools, sea spa, fitness center, tennis courts, lounges with large screen TVs for all you sports fans, kayak and speedboats that you can rent, and a complimentary shuttle to take you to Silver Strand State Beach so you can sink you toes into the warm waters.
With so much to do, we decided that it’s best to take advantage of what’s closest to us, the Sea Spa! The ultimate spot to kick back, relax and enjoy some R&R. Slipping into our plush robes and relaxation sandals, we were ready for some zen time 🙂 #namaste
Their spa offers a great lineup of luxurious treatments from island-inspired body wraps, tropical sea stone massages, energizing facials and even a relaxing Vichy Rain Shower. You’ll walk away feeling refreshed and replenished!
Loews’ spa facility has a steam room but we opted for their outdoor Jacuzzi and Watsu pool. If you’re not familiar with Watsu pools, it’s a chest-deep warm water pool often used by therapists to stretch and massage the muscles. A quick therapeutic session and a few blog worthy outfit shots later, we were ready to get our tan on by the pool(s)!
Bottoms Up! We are huge fans of Bloody Marys and everywhere we go, we have to get one. We haven’t found many places that makes simple but delicious Bloody Marys so we were thrilled that Loews bartender was able to make a darn delicious BM that was up to our expectations.
Things got a bit hot in the sun so we moved over to the patio area by the pool and sipped on our adult beverages as we decide what’s next on our itinerary!
A refreshing grilled pineapple mojito to keep us hydrated for whatever’s next on our itinerary…
Cay’s Lounge is a super chill lounge for SoCal folks who love to drink and watch sports. For us, we like to people watch and mingle so we went out to their patio area to chat and look out at the shoreline.
We ended our day with an amazing fine dining experience at their award-winning restaurant, MISTRAL. They did not disappoint! Vibrant flavors and beautifully presented with a minimalist touch. That’s how great food should be 🙂
Heirloom Tomato Salad. So simple yet so full of summer flavors. Loews has their own garden so their ingredients are super fresh!
Spot Prawns “A La Plancha” appetizer
Tuna Tartare with toasted seaweed
Duck Breast Confit with pickled apricots and almond puree
Wagyu Hanger Steak that just melts in your mouth.
Exceptional dining experience with a breathtaking view of the Coronado Bay and San Diego skyline to end our mini staycation. Loved every minute of it and it was all thanks to an amazing staff at Loews for providing such great service, accommodating all of our needs. Couldn’t have asked for a better weekend.
